Session number: 5
Average n-back: 2
Duration (estimate in minutes): 20
So I’ve got what psychometricians (professionals who perform various qualitative/quantitative measurement of psyhcological characteristics) as a moderately severe case of what they term as a “hybrid add/adhd”. That means I test positively for a number of characteristics that describe both disorders, so I am not restricted to one form or the other. That means distraction and impulsivity: bummer! Anyhow I’m about five sessions in, and I’ve made no real progress in terms of increase my “N”-score per session. Topping out with a score of “2″ – a little disappointing. I reached n=3 one time and couldn’t return to it. I will keep going, but I will probably discontinue if I haven’t made any significant improvements by at least halfway through the course.

Stick with it, John!
It takes about two weeks of regular training before the changes in the brain begin to reveal themselves. Rest assured: If you focus on the training task the results will come.
I highly recommend working your way up to maintaining focus on a full block. Set a target of focusing on the first few items and nailing any matches. If you lose your way, regroup and pick up the thread again. Or stop a training block and start again if you get completely flustered.
Hope this helps,
Martin
