Working-Memory Training Report – Will W – Session 26

Session number: 26

Average n-back: 4.85

Previous training session was 4.3; 4.85 is a new high score, up from a previous
best of 4.6.

Early on, I had one bad session at 4 back where I got lost and thought I’d get kicked back to 3 back; fortunately I squeezed by by getting 5 wrong and so I stayed at 4 back. That’s what helped me realized the 4.85.

I hit 6 back twice; now 6 back feels like what 5 back used to feel like just a few weeks ago — too heavy to lift.

For the most part, I’m utilizing a chunking strategy of remembering 3 sequences and then 2 at 5 back. I try to go 3 and 3 on 6 back, but at this point it’s not working.

Like Shaun, I’m hoping to hit 5 back or higher sometime during this 2nd set. I’m
very happy with the progress I’ve made; I wonder what real ramifications there will be in working memory gains…I am sure to find out soon enough.

Interesting. I use the chunking strategy for six and above. It’s probably a bit of a shortcut, but it works and certainly still provides a substantial challenge.

Great jump there, Will, going from 4.6 to 4.85.

Congratulations on scoring 2.85. It is suprising to me that 4.85 is what I scored on my 26th training session as well.
