Stage: 3

Session number: 21

Average n-back: 2.4

I was so scared to do #19 session and discover no benefits. I pushed through and am surprised. They improvements are small, but improvements, all the same. My attention span is growing. I’m listening more closely. I feel more calm. Still doing Entrainment and meditation, often.

Creating an optimum environment.

Stage: 3

Session number: 1

Average n-back: 2.5

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to create the perfect serene environment for maximum concentration.

At the moment, I switch off the lights, turn on two aromatherapeutic candles and put the screen on “full screen”.

Is this an effective way of training or is it bad for my eyes?

I’d love to hear your methods and what you find to be the best way to get the most out of your training.

regards,

John Chalmers.

Question – Ed – Stage 3

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

Stage: 3

Session number: 1

Average n-back: 2.5

Hi,

I’ve just done my first session of stage 3. I kept fluctuating between n=3 and n=2. As I progressed through the session, I noticed it became harder to concentrate and I certainly became almost more confused (n=2 seemed harder to do even though I got them all correct for most of them). It was somewhat hypnotic.

Is this normal and is it a good sign……..or have I just worn myself out?

Many Thanks

Ed

YES! i went to a new level. I was able to stick to n3 for a bit and then bounced to n4 for a bit. WOW! my brain was on fire. serious training today. I can feel this working so well. I even finished another book, and zipping through one after the other. My wife is amazed at all the reading i’m doing. I told her at age 50, i’m playing catch up. it feels so good. Thank you Martin and Mind Sparke. wow. what a difference. I’m sleeping better, more focused. totally different frame of mind than before i started this. my writing has gone through the writer’s block. i’m ecstatic. I was getting bummed because stage 3 was tough and today, well actually it was yesterday had a slight breakthrough and now today…BOOYAH! YES! Thank you GOD! I feel like a million bucks.

Brain Training Report – Kevin – Average N-back=5.5

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

Hi Guys,

Today was excellent as far as Dual N-back training. I have just completed session 15 with an average N-back of 5.5.

The reason I decided to post is because I didn’t drop below an N-back level of 5. In my previous trainings, I would have no problem getting up to N-6, but as soon as I lost concentration, I would dip down to N-3, and even N-2 in some cases.

And the downward spiral would continue. Today was different; when I dropped from an N-6 level, I stopped and calmed my nerves.

I focused on breathing – trying to maintain 6 deep breaths per minute, and cleared my head of all distractions before I started another trial.

A big part was clearing my mind of the previous round, and totally submerging myself in the present. If in mid-round, my thoughts wandered, I ‘zoomed’ into the grid in front of me and forced myself to concentrate on what was directly in front of me.

Consistency is so important in all aspects of life. I knew I had to conquer inconsistency with by N-back trials in order to mentally grasp what consistency feels like. The focusing and re-focusing that comes with mental consistency will translate into other areas of my life. Before today’s session, I didn’t fully understand how to perform that task.

Thanks,

Kevin

Wow! I’ve been getting to n=3 quite often and couldn’t believe people could do it. I actually saw a pattern today emerge in my mind. I got my highest score on n=3 than ever before! I’m shocked-pleased. My hope wonder kept me going and MindSparke is working. You and I must stick with this.

I have been working away at mindsparke. I should have documented my progress, but this is my first posting. I am sorry for the incomplete data.
I have noticed a marked increase in my capacity to remember numbers, details and dates. Even more encouraging is the sudden, and most welcome, ability to understand ideas, and concepts. My abilities, to accurately perform the mindsparke activities are rather modest.
But my experience of enhanced neurological functioning is clear and obvious.

Tough one tonight-had to push through and finish an entire session. Would’ve helped if I had done the meditation beforehand. Couldn’t calm the monkeys in my mind. Showed up in my audio score. Much lower than my visual. I’ll see if training with just the audio might help.
