Session number: 6 & 7
Average n-back: 4.75 & 5.0
Duration (min.): ?? & 27
The blog was down when I did my last session so I couldn’t post it so 6 & 7 are together.
I’m feeling more comfortable now on n=5. I’m usually fairly confident that I won’t drop back to 4. When i do, I know that most times I can get close to a perfect round and get back to 5 (although there’s always 1 miss…..)
Today I reached n=6 twice. The first time i bombed and got 10 misses, the second time i managed to stay at n=6 for 3 straight rounds.
One thing i’ve noticed is that everytime I reach n=6, when i do drop back to n=5, I have a terrible round and sink to 4. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hi Scott.
Yes, I’ve noticed the phenomenon you mention. It’s become one of my personal goals to try to conquer that second topple. (After much diligent effort, I’m at the point where it happens less often.)

Hi there Scott:
I too have noticed a refractory period that occurs after being at n=7. N=7 is the highest n that I have reached. After hitting n=7 for a while, I will drop to n=6 and then immediately to n=5, and sometimes to n=4!!! My experience therefore has a verisimilitude to your own.
Warm regards,
Shaun
